Many people imagine the Christian life as constant progress upward. But the truth is that following the Holy Spirit often includes valleys, detours, and unexpected turns.

The Bible reminds us in Romans 8:14 that “those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons and daughters of God.” A Spirit-led Christian life means trusting God even when the journey does not make sense.

Throughout Scripture, we see this pattern. Moses met God on the far side of the desert after years of feeling forgotten. Joseph went from a pit to prison before stepping into the purpose God had for him. Paul faced prison, storms, and shipwrecks on his way to Rome. None of those moments looked like success, yet each one was moving God’s plan forward.
Sometimes what feels like a setback is actually preparation. A closed door may be a divine detour guiding you somewhere greater. God is not only working in the destination but also in the journey itself.

If you feel stuck today, remember this truth: you are not behind, you are not forgotten, and you are not stagnant. If you are following the Holy Spirit, God is still leading your life.
The Christian journey is full of unexpected paths, but every step in obedience leads us deeper into the purpose and plan of God.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

Uncharted: Making Room for the Holy Spirit | Living a Spirit-Led Life

A Christian church that desires lasting impact must learn how to make room for the Holy Spirit. Being a Spirit-led Christian is not about comfort or routine. It is about surrender, obedience, and intentionally creating space for God to move.

Romans 8 reminds us that the sons and daughters of God are led by the Spirit. This is not an occasional experience but a daily way of life. The church is strongest when it is guided by God’s presence rather than controlled by human plans.

In 2 Kings 4, Scripture gives us two powerful examples of what happens when people make room. A widow gathered empty vessels, and oil flowed until there was no more room. A faithful couple built a room for the prophet Elisha out of honor for the presence of God. In both stories, God’s provision followed obedience, and miracles followed intentional space.

The oil did not stop because God ran out. It stopped because the room ran out. This truth still applies to the Christian church today. God is not withholding His power, direction, or blessing. He is responding to how much room we make for Him.

For the church, this message matters deeply. A Christian church in Orlando must decide whether it will be Spirit-led or schedule-led. Making room looks like prioritizing Scripture, cultivating prayer, honoring the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and responding with faith even when it costs time, comfort, or control.

The room built for Elisha later became the place of resurrection. What begins as an act of honor can become the place of future breakthrough. When a church makes room now, God prepares His people for seasons they cannot yet see.

If we want renewal, clarity, healing, and purpose in our walk with Christ, the answer is simple and challenging. Make room for the Holy Spirit, and allow Him to lead the church, shape the people, and move freely among us.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

In this Uncharted message, our church confronts the barriers that keep believers from fully living a Spirit-led life

Romans 8:14 tells us that those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons and daughters of God. Spirit-led living is not just for a church service. It is meant for everyday decisions, work, relationships, and faith in action.

The Cages We Live In
Jesus declared in Luke 4:18 that He came to set captives free, yet many people do not realize they are still trapped. These cages are often internal. They are built from fear, routine, guilt, responsibility, assumptions, and past failure.
These spiritual cages keep Christians small. They convince us we are disqualified or that safety is better than faith. But Scripture reminds us that the just shall live by faith.

Faith Starts Outside the Cage
God does not call us to a life we can fully control. A Spirit-led Christian life stretches us beyond comfort and certainty. Miracles do not happen inside the cage. Miracles begin when you leave the cage.
God is not limited by your past, your age, your job, or your failures. The only real limits are the ones we accept.

A Call to Step Out
At Calvary Orlando, the message is clear. Identify the cage. Name it. Step out. The Holy Spirit is already moving ahead of you. Who am I to deny what the Lord can do.
Freedom begins with obedience.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

He placed the Holy Spirit within us so we could walk in obedience, purpose, and trust.

The Holy Spirit Positions Us
Romans 8 reminds us that we are no longer controlled by our old nature. The Holy Spirit lives in us, speaks to us, and leads us. A Spirit-filled Christian life goes beyond meaningful church moments. It shapes our everyday decisions.
The image of a turtle on a fence post makes this clear. If you see a turtle on top of a post, you know it did not get there alone. In the same way, the Holy Spirit places us in opportunities we could never create ourselves. When God elevates us, it is always for His glory.

Prompting Requires Obedience
Feeling the Spirit’s prompting is only the beginning. Breakthrough follows obedience.

As we step into a new year, it is easy to focus on resolutions, fresh starts, and personal goals. But this message reminds us that a truly meaningful year begins when our focus shifts outward. The heart of a Christian life is not just personal growth, but faithful intercession. The simple yet powerful invitation is this: ask God for one name and carry that person to Him in prayer.

Emmanuel Changes the Question
Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that Emmanuel means God with us. The question is no longer whether God is present, but what we do now that He is. Jesus connects this promise directly to the Great Commission, assuring us that as we go and make disciples, He will be with us always. This truth shapes the mission of the church and fuels our calling to love, reach, and equip others.

The Power of Persistent Prayer
Genesis 18 shows us the first recorded intercession. Abraham boldly asks God to spare a broken city, and each time he asks, God responds with mercy. God never says no. Abraham simply stops asking. This moment challenges us to believe that prayer changes lives, even when the outcome is not immediate. God never wastes intercession, and He sees redemption where we may only see brokenness.
The story reminds us that some of the most powerful transformations in Scripture came generations later. From one of the darkest family lines came Ruth, whose faith placed her in the lineage of Jesus. This is why we keep praying. This is why we ask and ask again.

One Name Can Change Everything
Many of us are here today because someone once carried our name to Jesus. Someone prayed when we could not. Someone believed when we were far from God. The call is simple and deeply personal. Ask God for one name. Write it down. Pray faithfully. Not with pressure or performance, but with love, hope, and trust in what God can do.
This kind of prayer reshapes our year. It shifts our focus from self to mission. It turns routines into purpose and faith into action. It is how the Christian faith moves beyond attendance and becomes transformation.

Living This Out Together
You do not have to carry this alone. Community matters. Small groups, serving teams, and prayer partners are places where faith is strengthened and perseverance grows. When we walk together, we learn to hold tight, carry on, and keep believing for the people God has placed on our hearts.

As a church in Orlando, we believe God is still writing stories of redemption. This year is about praying deeper, trusting longer, and believing that God can save, restore, and heal through faithful intercession.

So ask God for one name. Carry it with courage. And do not stop asking.

PASTOR BRIAN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

Christmas is more than a familiar story. It is the moment when God’s promise arrived in a way no one expected. In Luke 2, we see the arrival of Jesus, not as a conquering king, but as a baby placed in a manger. This was not accidental. It was intentional, wise, and deeply loving.

Israel had waited generations for a Savior. They expected deliverance, power, and immediate change. What God gave them was something far greater. He gave them Immanuel, God with us, offering peace not through political strength but through reconciliation with God. This is the heart of the Christmas story and the foundation of our Christian faith.

The angels did not announce this good news to kings or rulers. They appeared to shepherds. Ordinary, hardworking people. God chose to reveal His greatest gift to those with no influence or status, reminding us that the gospel is for everyone. No one is overlooked. No one is too ordinary to be included in God’s plan.

Peace on earth did not mean the absence of conflict. It meant peace between God and humanity. Jesus came to restore what was broken on the inside first. God knew that lasting change begins in the heart. This is why the promise arrived humbly. God was not fixing systems before fixing souls.

The Christmas story also teaches us something personal. Often, we wait for God’s promises to show up in a specific way. When they arrive differently, we can feel disappointed. But just like the manger held the fullness of God’s plan, the beginning of God’s promise already contains everything He intends to do. What He starts small, He grows with purpose.

At our church, we are reminded every Christmas that God meets us right where we are. He comes into our mess, our questions, and our need. This is the beauty of Immanuel. God did not wait for us to reach Him. He came to us.

As a Christian community in Orlando, we celebrate this truth together. The promise has arrived. Jesus is here. And what God has started in you, He is faithful to complete.
This Christmas, trust the wisdom of God. Even if the promise does not look like you expected, it may be exactly what you need.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

During the Immanuel series at Calvary Orlando, we are learning that Christmas is not only about celebrating what God has done, but about preparing for what He is still doing in us.

In Luke 1, Mary receives a life-changing promise from heaven. Her response reveals a powerful truth. Preparation is the proof that we believe the promise.

From Expectation to Preparation
Mary did not try to earn God’s promise, but she did choose to shape her life around it. After receiving the angel’s message, Scripture tells us that Mary got ready and hurried to visit Elizabeth. God did not command her to go, but Mary understood the importance of shared faith.

Environment matters when you are carrying a word from the Lord. Mary surrounded herself with someone else who was experiencing a supernatural promise. Faith grows best in community.

Preparing the Environment
Just as parents prepare a home for a child, believers must prepare their lives for what God has spoken. This includes what we allow into our homes, our conversations, and our hearts.
Preparing your environment is not earning the promise. It is honoring the promise. What we listen to, watch, and allow around us shapes the atmosphere of faith we live in.

Stretching While You Wait
Isaiah 54 calls us to enlarge our tents and strengthen our stakes. Waiting seasons are active seasons. God uses them to stretch us spiritually and strengthen our character, knowledge, and discipline.

Preparation often requires effort, sacrifice, and growth. Because we believe the promise, we are willing to prepare.

The Example of the Magi
The wise men prepared long before they met Jesus. They studied Scripture, watched for signs, sacrificed comfort, and traveled with expectation. They even brought gifts before ever seeing the King.

Preparation is a prophetic action. It declares faith in what God has promised before it is fully seen.

Four Ways to Prepare
As we prepare for God’s promises, Scripture invites us to focus on four areas:

Prepare your heart through repentance, forgiveness, and realigning your priorities around God

Prepare your life by obeying the last instruction God gave you

Prepare your expectations by speaking the promise, writing it down, and praying with faith

Prepare your environments by surrounding yourself with faith-filled people and healthy influences

A Season of Preparation
Christmas was not only the arrival of Jesus. The season leading up to God’s promise is often just as sacred as the moment it arrives.

Mary’s Faith-Filled “Yes”
In Luke 1, Mary receives a promise she does not fully understand, yet her response reveals deep trust:

“I am the Lord’s servant. God chose to work through a willing heart, reminding our church that He still moves through ordinary people who choose to say yes.

Growing What God Has Placed Inside You
Pastor Kevin shared that every promise from God has a spiritual development process. Some dreams form quickly. Others take time, stretching our patience and strengthening our character. This week’s message challenged us to become people who speak bold faith, hope, and strength into others. A healthy church community is built when believers intentionally bring spiritual oxygen, not fear, into every environment.

In today’s world, people feel overwhelmed, anxious, and discouraged. That is why God designed the Christian community to be a life giving place. When we walk into a room, we should bring hope filled atmosphere change, speaking words that lift hearts and point people back to the goodness of God.

Three Ways to Bring Life

1. Bring support through presence.
Jonathan’s armor bearer simply said, “I am with you,” and that one statement strengthened a whole battle. Life giving Christians use bold supportive language that reminds others they are not alone in their fight.

2. Speak destiny with confidence.
When the angel called Gideon a mighty warrior, he spoke identity, purpose, and faith over someone who felt small. We can do the same. Christian encouragement helps people see beyond the moment and into God’s plan. This kind of biblical affirmation uplifts weary hearts and restores confidence.

3. Open doors for others to grow.
Barnabas became known as the son of encouragement because he elevated others. This is powerful Christian leadership. Offering help, connection, or opportunity reflects the heart of Jesus and strengthens the Church. Life giving believers ask, “How can I help you move forward?”

A Life Giving Church Changes the Atmosphere
When we refresh others, God refreshes us. When we sow encouragement, God pours hope back into us. This is how a Christian church grows healthier, and how believers develop strong spiritual roots.

Our city needs faith filled voices, people who speak life instead of fear and hope instead of pressure. As a church, we are choosing to be that kind of community.

This week, be intentional. Speak courage. Offer support. Bring fresh spiritual oxygen to someone who needs it. Together, we can be a life giving force in Orlando, breathing hope and faith into every space we enter.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

This week in our Breathe series, Pastor Maria shared a powerful message on the secret place, the intentional space where we pause, shut the door, and meet with God without distractions.

The secret place is not about performance or rushing through a list of needs. It is about presence. It is about responding to God’s invitation to step away from the noise and rest in His love. Scripture gives us a beautiful picture in Song of Solomon, where the King says, “Show me your face. Let me hear your voice.” God does not listen out of obligation. He delights in being with you. He calls you beloved. He calls you beautiful.

When we make space for Him, something supernatural happens.

Peace replaces pressure. Clarity replaces confusion. Strength replaces striving.
In the quiet, God reveals what busy hearts often miss. The secret place becomes not a hiding spot, but a meeting place where God speaks, heals, restores, and breathes life back into the soul.

Pastor Maria encouraged all of us to schedule intentional moments with God this week. Moments without phones, noise, or urgency. Just you, Jesus, and stillness. Whether it is a bedroom, a car, a walk, or a quiet corner, your soul benefits when you create space for God to move.

As a Christian community in Orlando, we are choosing to slow down, breathe deeply, and meet God in the secret place. He is already waiting for you with the love, direction, and peace your heart has been craving.

PASTOR MARIA'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

He was anointed as king, yet returned to the fields and walked through years of pressure, adversity, and confusion. Still, his faith remained anchored in this truth:

“I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

This is a powerful reminder that God’s goodness is not only for eternity. His goodness is meant to be seen in our real lives, our real struggles, and our real circumstances.

Isaiah 40 strengthens this message. Those who wait expectantly on the Lord will renew their strength. This kind of waiting is not passive. It is active faith that watches for God, trusts His timing, and believes His promises. Expectant waiting helps us breathe again when life feels overwhelming.

Ezekiel’s vision of dry bones coming to life shows us what God does when He breathes. Strength rises. Hope returns. What seemed impossible becomes possible again. God still breathes life into tired hearts and weary seasons. His waiting room is a place of preparation, renewal, and restoration.

As a church, we are choosing to look for God’s movement each day. We are choosing to stay hopeful, stay prayerful, and stay expectant. God is working in ways we may not see yet, and He will be faithful to finish what He started.

If you are in a waiting season, lift your eyes to Him. Breathe again. Hope again. Trust again. God has been faithful before and He will be faithful again.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

In our Breathe series, Pastor Kevin reminded us that God is calling us to slow down, breathe deeply, and step into spiritual maturity. Anxiety shows up for all of us, but God’s desire is to form us into steady believers who know how to quiet the noise and trust Him fully.

Quieting Your Soul
Psalms 131 paints a picture of a believer who has learned to calm their soul like a weaned child beside their parent. This is spiritual maturity. It’s choosing to steady your heart instead of being overwhelmed by every fear or problem. God wants to grow us into trees planted, people who don’t get uprooted when life gets hard. When your soul is quieted before God, you can hear Him more clearly and trust Him more deeply.

Jesus on Worry
In Matthew 6, Jesus speaks directly to the anxiety that weighs us down. He tells us not to worry about our lives because God already knows what we need. If He feeds the birds and clothes the lilies, He will take care of you. Worry doesn’t solve issues. It steals peace. But focusing on God’s presence shifts everything. When we choose to look at the size of our God instead of the size of our problems, anxiety loses its grip.

Past. Present. Future.
Past worries can’t be changed, but you can forgive yourself and others. Present moments can be shaped by obedience, worship, and prayer. The future is out of your control, but fully in God’s. Learning to place each category in His hands frees your mind and heart. You don’t have to carry what you cannot control. You simply choose to sow good seeds today and trust God with what comes next.

Thinking from the Throne
Colossians 3 tells us to set our minds on things above. When you think from God’s victory instead of your valley, everything shifts. Where you think from determines what you think of. When your thoughts start from the truth that Jesus is already seated on the throne, anxiety doesn’t get the final word. Peace begins to grow because your perspective is rooted in God’s power, not your pressure.

Real Peace Comes from His Presence
Real peace isn’t something you create. It flows from knowing Jesus is with you in every moment. He promises to walk with you through floods, fires, fear, and uncertainty. You are never alone. God is faithful, and He will take care of you in ways you couldn’t have planned or predicted. Our church family in Orlando is learning to breathe again, trust again, and rest again in the One who holds every detail of our lives.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

Between work, family, and constant demands, it’s easy to feel like you’re running out of air. But God never meant for us to live anxious and overwhelmed. He invites us to pause, rest, and breathe again.
In our new series, Breathe, Pastor Kevin reminds us that true peace isn’t found in control, comfort, or achievement. It’s found in God’s presence. When we slow down long enough to listen, we remember that we were created to live filled, filled with His Spirit, filled with His peace, and filled with His breath.

Peace Over Pressure
Psalm 127 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” We push ourselves to hold everything together, our families, our finances, our future, and still feel empty. Peace doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from inviting God into what you’re already doing.
When we trust Him to guide every part of our lives, peace replaces pressure and our efforts find purpose.

From Shallow Breaths to Deep Life
Many Christians live on what Pastor Kevin calls “shallow breaths.” A quick verse of the day, a short prayer before bed, or a song on the drive to work. Those moments matter, but they’re not enough to fill our souls.
Just as our bodies need deep breathing to stay healthy, our spirits need deep connection with God through Scripture, worship, and quiet prayer. That is where real rest begins.
When we slow down to take a deep breath in His presence, the Holy Spirit renews our mind and restores our peace.

Let God Breathe Life Into You
From the very beginning, God has been breathing life into His people. In Genesis 2:7, He formed humanity and breathed life into us. In Ezekiel 37, He breathed into a valley of dry bones and they came alive again.
That same Spirit of God can breathe new life into your heart, your home, and our church today. You don’t have to fix everything or earn His peace. You just have to be still and receive it.

It’s Time to Breathe Again
Maybe you’ve been running on empty. Maybe life feels pressured, crowded, or dry. This is your invitation to pause, to rest, to breathe deeply in God’s presence.
Breathe in His peace. Breathe out your worries. Let His Spirit fill you again with strength, joy, and life.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

At Calvary Orlando, we’ve spent October diving deep into one powerful truth: spiritual warfare is real, but the victory already belongs to Jesus. This past Sunday, Pastor Kevin closed out our Not Today, Satan series with a message called “The Weapons of Our Warfare.”

He reminded us that as Christians, we’re not called to live in fear or confusion about the unseen battles around us. Instead, God has given us divine weapons, powerful tools that tear down spiritual strongholds, silence the lies of the enemy, and bring lasting freedom through Jesus.

1. You Have the Power
When it comes to spiritual warfare, you don’t need to call anyone else to handle the fight for you. You carry the authority of Jesus inside you. The same Holy Spirit that raised Christ from the dead empowers you to stand strong against every attack.
2. Your Spiritual Disciplines Are Weapons
Prayer. Fasting. Worship. Reading God’s Word. These aren’t just religious habits; they’re your spiritual weapons. Pastor Kevin called them the “nuclear reactor” of our church, the power source that fuels everything God does through us.
When we stay consistent in prayer and the Word, we’re preparing before the battle ever begins. Victory doesn’t come from reacting to the enemy; it comes from staying connected to God every day.
3. Faith, Hope, and Love Win the War
Faith, hope, and love are not just nice words; they’re supernatural weapons that shift the atmosphere. Every time you encourage someone, speak life into your city, or serve someone in need, you’re pushing back darkness with light.
What we saw at Day of Hope is proof that when our church shows up with faith, hope, and love, lives are changed all across Orlando.
4. Truth Sets You Free
One of the most overlooked weapons of spiritual warfare is truth. When we hide sin or live in secrecy, the enemy gains power. But when we bring things into the light, Satan loses his hold. Truth breaks chains and opens the door for healing and freedom.
5. Worship Is Warfare
When you lift your voice in worship, you’re not just singing songs; you’re declaring victory. Worship confuses the enemy and invites God’s presence to fight on your behalf. No matter what you face, worship keeps your heart anchored in the truth that the battle belongs to the Lord.

You already have what you need to win the battle. God has equipped you with His Spirit, His Word, and His power.

So this week, stand firm, use your weapons, and remind the enemy, Not Today, Satan.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

We have been in a powerful series called Not Today, Satan, and this week Pastor Maria brought a message that reminded us what it really means to be equipped for spiritual warfare. The battle may be invisible, but it is real, and the good news is that God has already given us everything we need to stand firm.

Understanding the Battle
The Bible says in Ephesians 6 that our fight is not against people but against spiritual forces of evil. The enemy is cunning and deceptive, using distraction, division, and temptation to pull us away from our purpose. But God does not leave us defenseless. He gives us the Armor of God, a divine strategy for victory that still applies to the church today.
Pastor Maria reminded us that just like the believers in Ephesus, we live in a culture full of distractions and darkness. When we put on the Armor of God, we are wrapping ourselves in Christ Himself. It is not our strength that wins the battle, it is His.

The Armor of God
Here is what God gives every Christian to stand firm:

The Belt of Truth – In a world that twists reality, we must love truth. Truth keeps us centered and unmoved by lies.

The Breastplate of Righteousness – This is our right standing with God. We are made righteous through Jesus, not our own effort.

Shoes of Peace – We bring the Gospel of Peace wherever we go. Even in warfare, we are messengers of reconciliation and hope.

The Shield of Faith – Faith protects us from every fiery dart of doubt and fear. It is the declaration, “I trust God.”

The Helmet of Salvation – A daily reminder that we are saved, chosen, and secure in Christ.

The Sword of the Spirit – The living, active Word of God that brings power and breakthrough in every situation.

Standing Firm Together
Paul did not write this letter only to individuals but to the body of Christ. That means the Armor of God is something we put on together. The church is not meant to fight alone. We stand stronger when we pray for one another, lift one another up, and refuse to make each other the enemy.

Community is God’s design for victory. The enemy loves isolation, but unity breaks his grip. In this message from our Not Today, Satan series, Pastor Kevin reminds us that while the enemy is real, he is also defeated. As Christians, we are called not to fear him but to stand firm in the victory of Jesus.

Seeing the Enemy Clearly
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that Satan masquerades as an angel of light. He does not show up in a way that is obviously evil. He comes in ways that seem reasonable, attractive, or even familiar. The enemy’s greatest weapon is deception—making something destructive look desirable.

That is why we need discernment. Sometimes what feels like your own thoughts, your past, or your insecurities might actually be a spiritual attack. The Holy Spirit helps us recognize when it is not just life happening but the enemy trying to steal, kill, and destroy.

Recognizing His Strategy
John 10:10 (NIV) says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”
Satan’s plan is not always about hell. Often, it is about hindering your purpose, distracting your focus, and delaying your calling.
He often uses:

Intimidation, making you feel smaller than God says you are.

Confusion, pulling you off the mission God has for you.

Temptation, that sounds logical or feels deserved.

Offense and unforgiveness, the bait that keeps churches divided.

Pastor Kevin reminded us, “If you really believed bitterness was from the devil, you would run from it like poison.”

Unforgiveness is one of Satan’s oldest schemes, and it keeps many Christians bound when they should be free.

Understanding His Limits
The devil is not God’s equal. He is not all-powerful, all-knowing, or everywhere at once. He is a created being, a fallen angel. That means he cannot read your mind or predict your future.

His power is limited to what we allow. As believers, we do not need to defeat him again. Jesus already did that on the cross. Our role is to enforce the victory, to resist him, and to stand firm in faith.

Practical Discernment
Not everything bad in life is from the devil. Sometimes it is our own choices, habits, or human limitations. Spiritual maturity means knowing the difference.
Pastor Kevin taught, “Spiritual warfare begins with discernment.” Some battles are spiritual, but others require us to grow, rest, or simply make better decisions.

It is not always Satan attacking your finances. Sometimes it is overspending. It is not always a spirit of infirmity. Sometimes it is stress or exhaustion. If the enemy cannot make you sin, he will try to wear you down, which is why it is important to guard your rest and refuel your spirit.

Victory in Jesus
The message ended with this powerful reminder:
“Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” – 1 John 4:4
Satan is real, but Jesus is greater. Every time we pray, forgive, love, and obey, we remind the enemy that he has already lost.
Let us be a church in Orlando that is not afraid of the devil but aware of his tactics and committed to walking in truth, love, and power.

“What’s happening here?”
God is awakening His people to live with spiritual awareness, not spiritual fear. The goal is not to find the devil. It is to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

But as Christians, we must remember that not everything is physical. There is a spiritual realm that is just as real, and the Bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).

You cannot solve spiritual problems with physical solutions. You need the spiritual weapons God has given you, His Word, His Spirit, and the authority of Jesus Christ.

Awareness Without Fear
For years, parts of the church have either ignored spiritual warfare or obsessed over it. The truth lies in balance. The enemy is real, but he is not equal to God. He is a defeated foe.

One of the devil’s greatest tricks is distraction. He will keep your life busy with worries and emergencies until there is no time to pray or seek God. But when we stay alert and spiritually aware, we begin to see beyond the surface.

What’s really happening when what’s happening is happening?

That question changes everything. Not everything you face is natural. Some battles are spiritual, and they require spiritual strength to overcome.

Open Our Eyes
In 2 Kings 6, Elisha prayed, “Lord, open his eyes so that he may see.” Suddenly, his servant saw the armies of God surrounding them. That same reality is true today. You are surrounded by God’s presence, covered by His promises, and strengthened by His Spirit.

Ask God to open your eyes so you can see what He is doing, even when life feels overwhelming. There is more happening than you can see, and through Jesus Christ, the victory is already yours.

Keep Your Focus on God
The goal of spiritual warfare is not to focus on the enemy but to stay centered on God. The reason there is an unseen battle is because there is also an unseen Kingdom, ruled by the King of Kings.

When we fix our eyes on Jesus, fear loses its grip. We begin to walk in faith, bringing the light of Christ into a dark world. Our world does not just need more solutions. It needs spiritual awakening.

As you go throughout your week, ask God to help you fix your eyes instead of getting distracted by the chaos and busyness around you.

Standing Strong in Orlando and Beyond
Here in Orlando, the church is called to live boldly, to pray, discern, and push back when the enemy tries to steal, kill, and destroy. Every prayer, every act of service, and every step of faith advances the Kingdom of God.

As you face your week, remember this truth from 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV):
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

You have the armor of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the victory of Jesus Christ on your side. When the enemy comes knocking, say it with confidence, Not today, Satan.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

But if we are spiritually asleep, we risk missing the move of God. Just like Rip Van Winkle, who slept through a revolution, too many believers are sleeping through seasons of change and opportunity.
Wake up.
God is on the move.
It’s time to move with Him.

The Word We Need Now: Forgive
From public tragedy to private pain, the Spirit of God is calling His people to respond differently, to respond with forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not about feelings. It is obedience. It is a declaration that says, “Because I have been forgiven, I forgive.”

Forgiveness Is the Front Door
Everything in the Christian faith begins with forgiveness.
The cross is where forgiveness is both received and given.
You cannot truly experience one without the other.
Too many of us want the fruit of forgiveness, such as peace, blessing, and freedom, without doing the work of forgiving others. But forgiveness is not optional for followers of Jesus. It is a command.
You being forgiven was never meant to stop with you. It is meant to flow through you.

Forgive Yourself, Too
Some people cannot forgive others because they have not forgiven themselves.
Shame and guilt keep us locked in the past, unable to see the new thing God wants to do. The challenge was to receive grace, to forgive ourselves, and to stop holding ourselves hostage for mistakes that Jesus already paid for.
You are forgiven. You are free.
Now, let that same forgiveness flow through you.

Forgiveness Doesn’t Excuse the Offense
Forgiving someone does not mean what they did was right.
It means you are no longer carrying it. You are placing that person and that pain in God’s hands.
Your forgiveness might not change them, but it will change and free you.

The Call to Action
This week, take time to ask God:

Who do I need to forgive?

Who do I need to ask forgiveness from?

Have I truly received God’s forgiveness for myself?

It is time to wake up to grace.
It is time to rebuild your home from the inside out.
And it starts with I forgive you.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

In our Home Improvement series, we have been learning how to strengthen our families and lives by building on the foundation of God’s Word. This past Sunday’s message reminded us that one of the greatest tools we have for spiritual growth and family transformation is something we use every single day: our words.

The Bible declares that “the tongue has the power of life and death” (Proverbs 18:21). Every time we speak, we shape our homes, our relationships, and the atmosphere around us. As followers of Christ, it is time to reclaim the power of words and use them the way God intended, to bring healing, hope, and blessing.

Speaking Life in Hopeless Situations
Throughout Scripture, God’s people faced battles they could not win on their own. Ezekiel looked out over dry bones, Paul and Silas prayed in prison, and David stood before Goliath.
What set David apart was not only his sling and stone but also the words of faith he spoke. “David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied’” (1 Samuel 17:45, NIV).

His declaration revealed what was already rooted in his heart. The same is true for us. What we speak in our homes reveals the condition of our hearts, and it either opens the door to fear or releases faith.

Words as Thermometers and Thermostats
Pastor Maria explained that our words serve two functions:

Thermometers, showing the condition of our hearts.

Thermostats, setting the spiritual temperature in our homes.

If we constantly speak anger, frustration, or hopelessness, we lower the temperature of faith in our families. When we declare God’s promises, we raise the spiritual climate and invite His presence into every room of our house.

Creating Homes of Prayer and Blessing
Jesus said, “My house will be called a house of prayer” (Matthew 21:13). That applies not just to a physical church but also to every home where His people live. A house becomes a sanctuary when prayer and blessing flow freely through it.

Speak blessing over your children, even when they make mistakes.

Encourage your spouse instead of tearing them down.

Declare peace over your home instead of giving in to strife.

This is how we build strong Christian families that reflect Christ in our neighborhoods, our workplaces, and throughout Orlando.

Your Assignment This Week
This week, do not just think about the message, practice it. Every day, speak life over at least one person in your home or community. Bless your household with faith-filled declarations. Prophesy over areas that look dry or lifeless, just as Ezekiel spoke to the valley of dry bones.

Begin with this declaration:
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Final Encouragement
You are not powerless. Your words are a gift from God and a weapon against the enemy. Use them to set the atmosphere of your home, build unity in your relationships, and strengthen your walk with Christ. When we as a Christian community choose to speak life, our homes and our city can be transformed.

Closing Prayer From Service:
Lord, may our home be filled with love for You. Let our home point to Your Word and covenant. Jesus, make Your home here. May Your blessing, favor, and peace rest upon this household, overflowing with goodness. Lord, let Shalom guard this home, remove strife, and establish unity. Jesus, let Your peace rule in every relationship. Thank You for daily bread and provision. May this table be a place of gratitude and generosity. Lord, cover this house with Your wings. Let angels guard every door and window. Jesus, protect us from every attack. Let our home be a place of joy, love, and unity where Christ is honored. Lord, let Your covenant blessing rest on our children and their children. May salvation, blessing, and calling extend to every generation. May our children be taught by the Lord and live in great peace, like fruitful olive shoots, growing in wisdom and favor. Lord, You are Jehovah Rapha. Mark this home with health and wholeness. By Jesus’ stripes, may every member walk in wholeness and strength. May we prosper in body and soul. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Let Your covenant blessing sanctify this household and draw every heart to You.
Verse References: Deuteronomy 6:4–9, John 14:23, Numbers 6:24–26, Ephesians 1:3, Psalm 122:7, Colossians 3:15, Isaiah 32:18, Deuteronomy 8:10, Philippians 4:19, Psalm 91:9–11, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, Psalm 133:1, Colossians 3:13–14, Genesis 28:3, Acts 2:39, Exodus 15:26, Isaiah 53:5, 3 John 1:2, Joshua 24:15, Acts 16:, 1 Corinthians 7:14,
Isaiah 54:13, Psalm 128:3, Mark 10:16

PASTOR MARIA'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

It begins in our house. When it comes to building a life, a family, or even a nation, Scripture makes it clear: “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1).

This is not just about construction or parenting tips. It is about surrender. It is about choosing to give your house back to Jesus and letting Him take His rightful place as Lord over your marriage, your singleness, your parenting, and your daily decisions.

Why the House Matters
The first institution God created was not government or even the church. It was the home. Brokenness in society reflects what is happening inside our homes. Christian families must live differently, not just attending church on Sunday but allowing Jesus into every room of our lives, including our conversations, our finances, our relationships, and even our hidden struggles.

What It Looks Like to Give Your House Back to God

Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church, with sacrificial and unconditional love.

Wives are called to respect and honor their husbands, not because they are perfect but because this reflects God’s design.

Singles are reminded that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, called to pursue holiness and use their season of life for the glory of God.

Parents are urged to disciple their children, talk about God at the dinner table, and guide them back to truth when the world offers confusion.

A Fresh Commitment
Joshua declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” That same call rings out today. Will we keep Jesus at the front door or will we open our homes fully to Him?

When we give our house back to God, joy returns, peace takes root, and transformation spreads from our homes to our neighborhoods, to our city of Orlando, and beyond.

Now is the time to stop playing games with God.

We have all seen renovation shows where an old, broken-down house is turned into something beautiful. But what about the inside of our own homes? In our new series, Home Improvement, we are learning how God’s blueprint can rebuild marriages, strengthen families, and bring His presence into every room. This week’s message was called “The Blueprint to Your Dream House.”

When most people think about home improvement, they imagine paint rollers, tool belts, and DIY projects. But for a Christian family, true improvement goes deeper. God is more concerned with what is happening inside your home: the way you love, the way you forgive, and the way you carry His presence into everyday life.

This week we were reminded that God has a vision for your home. You might already dream of a house filled with peace, joy, and love, but those things do not appear on their own. They begin with a decision: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).

Like any remodel, it gets messy before it gets better. God may need to pull out old habits, hidden sin, or toxic patterns so He can rebuild your household on His foundation. That process is not always comfortable, but it makes space for His peace, His presence, and His blessing.

Proverbs 24:3–4 (NIV) says, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” Those treasures are not material possessions. They are spiritual treasures that last: forgiveness, unity, joy, holiness, and grace.

Every Christian home in Orlando and beyond can become a sanctuary. Whether you live in a single-family home, an apartment, or share a space with roommates, you can plant good seeds that shape the atmosphere of your house. Prayer, worship, kindness, and forgiveness are the building blocks of a home that reflects Jesus.

So here is the question: What do you want your home to feel like when you walk through the door? A place of conflict and stress, or a place filled with the goodness of God?

This week, let’s choose together: “We will serve the Lord.” That is the true blueprint to a home that lasts. And as families choose to honor God, the impact spreads to the church and to the entire community. A home built on God’s wisdom not only blesses your family, it strengthens the body of Christ and shines as a witness to the world.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

This past Sunday at Calvary Orlando was a day of celebration as our church family witnessed powerful moments of baptism. Baptism is more than just water. It is a declaration of new life in Christ.

From Filth to Freedom
Pastor Maria reminded us of those childhood days when we would come inside after hours of playing outside, only to realize we were covered in dirt. In the same way, many of us do not realize the weight of sin until the light of Jesus shines on our hearts. Sin is rebellion against God, but the cross of Christ changes everything.

The Bible says in Acts: “Repent and be baptized.” Repentance is more than saying sorry. It is turning around and walking a new direction. Baptism then becomes the outward symbol of that inward decision.

A Funeral and a Resurrection
Baptism is, in a way, a funeral. Something must be buried:

The old self – our selfish ways are crucified with Christ.

The sinful nature – our past sins and failures are left behind.

Our past identity – the labels the world placed on us no longer define us.

As Pastor Kevin reminded us, when we go under the water, these things stay buried. But when we rise up, we are raised with Jesus into new life, freedom, and victory.

Born Again and In Christ
Jesus said we must be “born again.” This is not a cultural phrase to laugh off. It is a Biblical truth. When we come out of the waters of baptism, we are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
That means:

We no longer see ourselves as bound by sin, but hidden in Christ.

We face temptation and trials differently because God is with us.

We live with a new identity, new family, new language, and new hope.

Still in Process
Baptism does not mean perfection. It means transformation has begun. Our mind, will, emotions, and habits are still being renewed day by day. But we walk this journey in the strength of the Holy Spirit and the support of our church family.

Why Baptism Matters in Orlando Today
In a culture searching for authenticity, Christian baptism is a bold statement of faith. It declares that Jesus is Lord, that the old life is gone, and that new life is here. Baptism marks the start of a new life and a lifelong walk with Christ.

PASTORS KEVIN & MARIA'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

Relevant Acts: Pride and the Post-Christian Culture

We are living in what many call a post-Christian culture. Unlike nations that have never heard the Gospel, our society has heard of Jesus and decided it has “moved beyond” Him. But while culture claims to evolve past Christian faith, it still lives off the fruit of it: justice, love, compassion, generosity. These values did not come from nowhere, they were planted by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The danger is that in this new era, people want Christianity without Christ and a church without the cross. They want the benefits of faith without the source of faith. At the heart of it all lies the oldest scheme of the enemy: pride.

Pride: The Oldest Lie in the Book
From Satan’s fall in Isaiah to Adam and Eve in the Garden, the root sin has always been pride. Pride elevates self above God, placing “me” at the center of the story. Our culture celebrates this with mantras like “follow your heart” and “be true to yourself.” On the surface, it sounds empowering, but it leads us to worship ourselves rather than our Creator.
This worship of self is the opposite of true Christian worship, which exalts God above all else. As A.J. Swoboda writes, “The opposite of worshiping God is not Satan, but the worship of self.”

The Post-Christian Creed
Here are the values that define post-Christian culture:

The highest good is individual freedom, happiness, and self-expression.

Traditions, religion, and authority, especially church, must be dismantled.

Progress and technology will inevitably improve the world.

Tolerance of all self-expression is the ultimate virtue.

Humans are inherently good and will flourish without God.

Institutions and large structures are suspect at best, evil at worst.

External authority is rejected, and personal authenticity is celebrated.

But this is a lie. Without God, justice becomes hollow and love becomes shallow. Limits are rejected, truth is redefined, and sin is reframed as nothing more than a “social dysfunction.”

Why the Cross Still Matters
Here’s the truth: if humans are inherently good, the cross makes no sense. Why would Jesus die if we did not have a sin problem? But the cross is proof that evil is not just “out there,” it is in here, in every human heart.

The good news is that Jesus did not come just to teach us to “be better.” He came to save us, transform us, and give us a new nature. Only the power of the cross can bring lasting change in individuals, families, and society.

A Call to the Church in Orlando (and Beyond)
The church is not meant to revolve around me and my happiness. It is a community where we are challenged, sharpened, and reminded that Jesus is Lord, not us. In a time when culture pushes isolation and self-rule, the church reminds us that we were made for community, discipleship, and worship of God.

In Orlando and across the world, the true Christian church must resist the drift toward self-worship. We must recommit to Jesus, exalt Him at the center of our lives, and boldly proclaim that the cross is still the answer.

The truth remains: the gates of hell will not prevail against the church.

PASTOR KEVIN'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

This week’s message, “Your Next Step: Responding to God’s Call,” was a beautiful reminder that the Christian life is not just about hearing God’s Word—it’s about living it out with courage, joy, and love.

Pastor Eric reminded us that every time God speaks, He is inviting us to take a step closer. It might be a step of faith, a step into community, or a step toward surrender. No matter how big or small, those steps change everything.

Saying “Yes” to God in Everyday Life
Think about it: when the young boy brought his small lunch to Jesus, God multiplied it to feed thousands. In the same way, when we give God what little we have, He multiplies it for His glory.

That’s the heartbeat of the Christian journey—responding with open hands and an open heart. And here at our Orlando church, we are watching lives transformed because people are saying “yes” to God.

Repentance brings fresh freedom.

Baptism marks a new beginning.

The Holy Spirit gives us boldness and joy for the road ahead.

When we respond, God does the miraculous in and through us.

What’s Happening in Our Orlando Church Family
There’s something special happening in our church community. Our youth are returning from Christian summer camps with powerful testimonies of renewal, courage, and deeper faith. Students are discovering their voice, their calling, and their purpose in Christ—and they’re reminding all of us that no one is too young (or too old) to be used by God.
From heartfelt worship to life-changing small groups, from laughter at church picnics to tears at the altar, we’re seeing God’s love at work in every corner of Calvary Orlando Church. This is more than just church—it’s family.

Your Invitation
Maybe you’ve been waiting to take your next step. Maybe you’ve been carrying unforgiveness, fear, or doubt. Or maybe you’ve simply been sitting on the sidelines. Friend, this is your moment.
Here are a few ways you can step forward today:
✨ Repent and Reconcile – Let go of bitterness and embrace freedom.
✨ Be Baptized – Join us on August 31st for Baptism Sunday and publicly declare your new life in Jesus.
✨ Be Filled with the Holy Spirit – Receive the strength and joy only God can give.
No matter where you’re coming from, God has more for you. And we at Calvary Orlando would love to walk alongside you as you discover it.

Come Join the Family
If you’ve been searching for a Christian church in Orlando that feels like home, where faith is alive and community is real, we’d love to welcome you. Whether you’re brand new to faith or have been following Jesus for years, there is always a next step to take.
At Calvary Orlando Church, we don’t just attend—we belong, we grow, and we respond together.

So come as you are, bring your family, invite a friend, and let’s discover God’s beautiful plan for our lives—together.

PASTOR ERIK'S SERMON NOTES
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD
