We have all seen renovation shows where an old, broken-down house is turned into something beautiful. But what about the inside of our own homes? In our new series, Home Improvement, we are learning how God’s blueprint can rebuild marriages, strengthen families, and bring His presence into every room. This week’s message was called “The Blueprint to Your Dream House.”
When most people think about home improvement, they imagine paint rollers, tool belts, and DIY projects. But for a Christian family, true improvement goes deeper. God is more concerned with what is happening inside your home: the way you love, the way you forgive, and the way you carry His presence into everyday life.
This week we were reminded that God has a vision for your home. You might already dream of a house filled with peace, joy, and love, but those things do not appear on their own. They begin with a decision: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
Like any remodel, it gets messy before it gets better. God may need to pull out old habits, hidden sin, or toxic patterns so He can rebuild your household on His foundation. That process is not always comfortable, but it makes space for His peace, His presence, and His blessing.
Proverbs 24:3–4 (NIV) says, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” Those treasures are not material possessions. They are spiritual treasures that last: forgiveness, unity, joy, holiness, and grace.
Every Christian home in Orlando and beyond can become a sanctuary. Whether you live in a single-family home, an apartment, or share a space with roommates, you can plant good seeds that shape the atmosphere of your house. Prayer, worship, kindness, and forgiveness are the building blocks of a home that reflects Jesus.
So here is the question: What do you want your home to feel like when you walk through the door? A place of conflict and stress, or a place filled with the goodness of God?
This week, let’s choose together: “We will serve the Lord.” That is the true blueprint to a home that lasts. And as families choose to honor God, the impact spreads to the church and to the entire community. A home built on God’s wisdom not only blesses your family, it strengthens the body of Christ and shines as a witness to the world.
