What makes the church more than a building or a Sunday gathering? According to Ephesians 2:19-22, the church is God's household, built on Christ and joined together by His Holy Spirit. It is not something people created. It is not something man-made. It is something Jesus is building.
The message centered on four biblical characteristics of the church that have shaped believers for centuries.
The Church Is One
The church is united by Christ, not by preferences or backgrounds. God brings together people from every walk of life and calls them to love one another as one family.
The Church Is Holy
Because of Jesus, believers are set apart and continue to be transformed into His likeness. While people may fail and are imperfect, Christ shapes His church into a place where His presence dwells.
The Church Is Universal
The Christian church is bigger than one congregation, one building, one denomination. Believers around the world are part of one global church, worshiping the same Savior and proclaiming the same gospel.
The Church Is Apostolic
The church is built on the foundation of Jesus and the apostles. Rather than creating new truth influenced by the world, it remains rooted in the unchanging message of Scripture.
The sermon ended with an important reminder that we are not simply attending church. We are the body of Christ, joined together to reflect Jesus to the world. Through every season, God uses His people to encourage, strengthen, and care for one another.
