Starting Point Digital Discipleship - Sin

Sin
In this short video Pastor Eli Bonilla Eli Bonilla helps shed light on sin–what it is and how the Bible defines it.
1 John 3:4 Gives us the most basic definition if sin. “Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.”
Here’s a list of some things to help you finally overcome sin and live to please the Lord.
  1. Confess your sin before God: The Apostle Paul says we sin because we love it. We do what we are passionate about. So, if you still love your sin, you have got to admit that, and pray that God will take that away. And ask God to fill us with a love for the things that lead to life and abundance.
  2. Read your Bible: After you make sure that your desire is for God & not the world, the next thing you’ve got to do, absolutely, is to READ THE WORD. It is FULL of tools Jesus has already given us for getting rid of sin and filling our lives with character and righteousness.
  3. Keep your eyes on Jesus: If you focus and entertain thoughts about the world, your desire for it will increase. If you fix your eyes on Jesus, your desire for Him will increase. And since He has overcome the world, He will help you do the same.
