Fighting for the Heart of the King: A Weekend of Forward Momentum with Jeanne Mayo

This past Sunday at Calvary Orlando, we had the privilege of hosting Jeanne Mayo, a seasoned minister with over 50 years of experience, as part of our Forward Weekend. Her heartfelt message inspired us to rekindle our passion and commitment to fight for the heart of our King, Jesus Christ. It was a weekend of activation, encouragement, and an unforgettable reminder of what it means to move forward together in faith.

Jeanne Mayo’s message, titled "The Runway," was a compelling call to action for believers to make the most of the life God has given us. She encouraged us to see our lives as a runway leading toward an eternal purpose—a path where each step should reflect the values and mission of our King. Her wisdom, humor, and authentic storytelling deeply resonated with everyone present.

 Key Themes from Jeanne’s Message

1. Find Something Worth Dying For, and Live for It:
Jeanne challenged us to identify a mission that aligns with God’s kingdom, one that’s so significant we’d be willing to give everything for it. Whether it’s serving in a ministry, reaching out to our neighbors, or using our careers as a platform to glorify God, she reminded us that our lives gain meaning when centered on eternal purposes.

2. Take an Aerial View:
Life’s challenges can seem overwhelming up close. Jeanne encouraged us to adopt God’s perspective, trusting in His sovereignty even when we’re in the midst of valleys. She quoted 2 Peter 3:8, reminding us that God’s timeline is different from ours and that His promises are always fulfilled in His perfect timing.

3. The Most Important Things in Life Are Not Things:
Through Scripture and personal anecdotes, Jeanne underscored the value of relationships over material possessions. She urged us to invest in people and to reflect God’s love in every interaction, reminding us that our legacy is defined by how we treat others.

4. Example is Everything:
Jeanne’s words were a sobering reminder that our actions speak louder than our words. Living a life of authenticity and faith is the most powerful way to influence others and draw them closer to Christ.

 The Heart of the King

Jeanne’s message culminated in a powerful story from Scottish history about Sir James Douglas and King Robert the Bruce. As Jeanne recounted, the king’s dying wish was for his heart to be carried into battle against the enemies of the cross. Douglas fulfilled this request, symbolizing a life wholly committed to the mission of the King. Jeanne challenged us to do the same: to fight for the heart of our King, no matter the cost.

 Worship and Community
The worship team led us in anthems of faith and surrender, creating an atmosphere of unity and expectation. Songs like “Build Your Church” and “I Thank God” reminded us of God’s power and our role as living stones in His church. The congregation joined hands, symbolizing our commitment to move forward together in 2025.

 Moving Forward Together

As we step into this new season, Jeanne’s challenge echoes loudly: let’s be a church that doesn’t settle for the status quo. Let’s invite others into the family of God, not just for major events, but every week. Let’s prioritize relationships, show God’s love through our actions, and commit to making a difference in our city and beyond.

This is not the pre-game warmup. As Jeanne reminded us, it’s quarter four. The time to act is now. Together, let’s fight for the heart of our King and see God’s kingdom advance in extraordinary ways.
